Here are some tips to follow when considering buying one:

1) Generally speaking the more intense the job, the more a higher quality helmet is needed. Auto shade or auto darkening lens features can help you do the job better.

2) Make sure you use the right helmet for the right job. We mentioned that the type of welding job may differ from site to site, so talk to your supervisor about the type of welding work you will be doing.  If working solo or a do-it-yourselfer, make sure you talk with other welders who have done a similar project to the one you are working on.

3) Only purchase well known manufactured welding helmets. Many meet the safety compliance requirements, but some do not.
